- Copy Editing – This is an overall clean up of a document, checking grammar, punctuation, layout and consistency. This can be done manually (hard copy) or electronically (soft copy). Changes are suggested where necessary while retaining the author’s style.
- Proofreading – The final, and most straight-forward step in checking a document before the printing process. This involves an extremely careful read-through, ensuring grammar, punctuation, visual layout and facts are complete and accurate. Changes are suggested where – and if – necessary.
